Ken Laird, the owner, published his first booklet Village Story in 1971 while working as a local newspaper reporter in Midlothian. It told the fascinatin story of Newtongrange and Gorebridge, the mining villages where Ken was born and brought up and the 2,000 print run quickly sold out. Ken was bitten by the publishing bug! His next title was about the Royal Mile in Edinburgh and the rest,as they say is history with dozens more titles following over the years -- covering topics From Shetland to Galloway.

Another milestone for the company was the launch of Scottish Memories Magazine in March 1993. The aim was to provide a popular colourful title which presented

Scottish history and nostalgia in a bright attractive style.

The magazine was an immediate success and now has a worlwide readership. The editor, George Forbes, was a senior journalist for many years on national newspapers including the Scottish Daily Express and The Herald. His no punches pulled column is one of the most eagerly awaited articles In each new issue.
